Resources We Use

Travel plans don’t always come easy, websites don’t make themselves, and neither do YouTube videos. You need resources to be successful and Suzannah and I use quite a few. We’ve researched a lot of different resources to make our lives easier and to help us create the content that we want in the way that we want. Below is a list of many of those resources that we highly recommend.

We are affiliated* with some of them and if you use any of our links you do NOT pay a penny more…but we make a small commission which helps us continue to bring you great content. In many cases, you also get a discount or added bonus for using our links too!! There are others on the list that we’re not affiliated with but are still great resources.

Rest assured, we will NOT recommend or be affiliated with products that we have not used.

HARVEST HOSTS: Want to do a little boondocking someplace cool like a winery, vineyard, museum, farm, or even a golf course?  Our first boondocking experience was actually at a Harvest Host location and we loved it.  It’s so simple too, you just search on their easy-to-use app, find a location and contact them, and either reserve a spot or they tell you to just show up.  Once there you are expected to either pay a small fee or spend a certain amount of money in their gift shops, etc., it’s usually about $20.

Some sites are straight-up boondocking, and others might have full hookups.  All of that information is in their system too because of reviews from folks who’ve actually been there.

If you use our affiliate link you’ll get 15% off of your membership. Just use code HHFRIENDS15 when you checkout. And again, we’ll get a small commission to help keep our sites and content flowing.

CAMPENDIUM: We are not affiliated with Campendium but use them every time we search out an RV park. They have both a website and an app and both are easy ways to search out RV parks, campgrounds, get information on State and National Parks and even do some shopping. Yes, shopping. There are reviews from people that have stayed there and it helps to make a decision, as all RV parks aren’t created equal!

You can access most of their content for free but they do offer paid options as well. We use this app together with AllStays to find the best places to camp. Suzannah and I also write reviews on the RV parks we stay at, good and bad, and are always honest about what we find.

ALLSTAYS: This was our go-to until we found Campendium and now we use them both in concert. We aren’t affiliated with AllStays either but we use it every time we look for an RV park. They have more than just RV campground info and reviews though too. There is information on hotels, truck stops, Walmarts (boondocking), etc…

We continue to use their free version but they too offer paid options. As with Campendium, we write reviews on the campgrounds we stay at, check it out, and see if you can find our reviews!

LOOKA: Logo design isn’t easy…but this site made it simple. We tried to make our own for a while and we’re terrible at graphic design. We found Looka (previously Logojoy) and after working with their team we had a logo in about 72 hours along with all of the graphics for all social media, etc.
If you use this link we do make a small commission but you don’t pay anything extra.

Make YouTube Better

TUBEBUDDY:  We started our YouTube site without knowing anything about YouTube. We’d watched videos on trying to set things up, upload videos, etc., but in the end, we needed a source to help us make it all easier and we found TubeBuddy.  It helps with uploading videos, SEO research, and even sharing our videos on social media platforms.  They also offer member perks like free music and soundtrack downloads, free graphics downloads, and more.  One super nice thing about TubeBuddy is it integrates right into YouTube so it’s actually on your YouTube dashboard when you’re logged in.  Everything is right at your fingertips!!

You do NOT pay a penny more by using our affiliate link.  You get the same great deal but we get a small commission to help us continue to make great content.

Get the Best Music

ARTLIST: Music makes YouTube videos better.  Watch any good vlog and you’ll find good music on it.  We’re just starting out so we needed to find a provider that offers high-quality royalty-free music at an affordable price. After a lot of research, we found Artlist.  Oh, and the music can be used across other platforms besides YouTube so it’s just an added bonus.

If you use our link to subscribe you’ll get 2 months for free!

Photography

DRONE: Looking for a way to capture great videos and photography…from the air? It took a long time to convince Suzannah to let me get a drone and when she finally gave in I got a DJI Mavic Air. Its 4K camera creates stunning images and videos.
Did I need to know how to fly one? Nope, these things are easy to learn and use. All you need to do is register them with the FAA and you’re good to go. DJI offers great support and additional apps to help you be successful.

If you use our link you do NOT pay a penny more…but we make a small commission.
